Mono Dental Implant Tutorial

In this episode of the Shatkin F.I.R.S.T. Monday Morning Minute, Dr. Todd Shatkin discusses the benefits and practical use of Mono Mini Implants. These versatile implants combine the advantages of mini implants with the strength of traditional larger implants. Dr. Shatkin highlights the unique design, which features a narrow tip for easy bone entry and a flared top for enhanced stability. This makes them ideal for areas like the upper anterior jaw where extra strength is needed.

Dr. Shatkin explains the placement process, starting with the use of a 1.5mm pilot drill. He demonstrates how to use the finger driver and carrier to initiate the implant placement and emphasizes the importance of removing the carrier early to avoid difficulties. The implant can then be fully seated with either a ratchet wrench or contra-angle driver, similar to placing a mini implant, using a handpiece at 35 RPMs.

Dr. Shatkin also demonstrates the implant’s bendable collar, which allows adjustments up to 25 degrees to perfect the angle. He covers essential tips like using blockout shims during temporization and concludes by reminding viewers of the optional impression copings and surgical guide stents available for these implants.
