Surgical Kit
Hi, I’m Dr. Todd Shatkin and welcome to this Monday Morning Minute. Thank you, Dr. Shatkin. I’m Charles Elardo and today we’re going to be talking about our Shatkin F.I.R.S.T.® Surgical kit.
Our surgical kit was developed by Dr. Shatkin to ensure that you have all of the drills and drivers and instrumentation necessary to place any of our implants during your cases. Our surgical kit is organized into two portions, the first to being our one piece section which is designed for all of our prepable abutment one piece implants used for crown and bridge procedures. The other side is organized for our MDL mylo implants which are the O-ball and square implants used for denture work, retrievable restorations and some of the doctors prefer to use those for crown and bridge. The surgical kit also has locations for all of our drill guides.
The drill guides are color coded, the first of which being the Silver Pilot drill guide which is used for our 1.2 millimeter single patient drill, short and long, that is the drill that is used for the 2.0 and 2.5 millimeter O-ball MDL implants. The second drill guide location is color coordinated for our Gold Pilot drill guide which is used for the 1.5 millimeter drill. That is the drill used for the 2.5 millimeter one piece implant as well as the first drill in the sequence for the Milo, 3.0 and 3.01 piece implants. The last drill guide is color coded blue and is used for our 2.0 millimeter drill which is the second drill in the sequence for the 3.0 Milo and one piece implants. The drill sequence is conveniently printed at the top of the surgical kit.
This will show you what drills and drivers are necessary for each implant and in what order they should be used. Each slot in our surgical kit on both the one piece and MDL mylo sides is labeled to match the nomenclature on each piece of instrumentation’s packaging. When you open your instrumentation one by one, the nomenclature on that package will correspond to the designated slot in the surgical kit. It is very important to open those one at a time so that you find the correct slot in the surgical kit to maintain the organization necessary for your cases. The entire surgical kit is autoclavable so that when you have completed one of your procedures you can place the entire surgical kit and all of its contents into your autoclave machine to prepare for your next case.
This surgical kit is offered to you when you purchase any of our either Shatkin F.I.R.S.T.® Starter kits or the Shatkin F.I.R.S.T.® Essentials kit. Many of our doctors already have one of these kits. And if you’re interested in obtaining your first or a second surgical kit so that you can do back to back procedures without auto cleaving in between patients. Thank you for watching this week’s Monday morning Minute and have a great rest of your day.
